Sydney McBride
Printmaking Artist
Sydney McBride is an emerging artist based in Raleigh, NC. In May of 2017, she graduated from UNC Chapel Hill with a BA in Studio Art and English, and she has since exhibited art both locally and nationally. Her work explores lived experience and the process by which we find meaning in the world and ourselves through memory. Printmaking is her primary medium, and it is integral to her artistic practice as it mimics the repetitive nature of memory collection and transformation that is the central theme of her art. While she has worked in all main printmaking processes, her current focus is on linocut relief prints with an emphasis on the reduction technique using a tabletop etching press. Imagery used in her work is diverse, but it is always centered around personal memories rooted in her own life experience and with an emphasis on intricate detail.
